If you tell your brain you can… you CAN…If you tell your brain you can’t, guess what? You NEVER will…
Until Monday 31st August 2020 I had NEVER swam in the sea. Not even on holiday… to be honest, I’ll go for a paddle if I’m forced but the water is not my thing… Until now 👀
😍 On bank holiday Monday last week I decided it was time to conquer my fear of the water and get stuck in. With Kev’s encouragement and having read all the benefits on so many friends posts, especially Sian (who took this photo of me, thank you 🌟)
So far…so good…
🌊 Ok so I’m only on week 2 of sea swimming and it’s was actually too rough to swim some days but I still go in to waist height and walk around – but it makes me feel MAGICAL
🌟 I know I have the luxury of a flexible morning schedule but even without the sea, I think cold water does something to the body which I never expected – it makes me feel so alive, so free?! Lots of people have written extensively about this, I just thought it wouldn’t apply to someone like me…
🔥 I sleep with a thick winter duvet all year round, I wear socks mists nights in bed and I’m always under a blanket if I’m sat still, I’m not designed for the cold – so how can it make me feel so good?!
💦 No surprise but it’s science. Look up the work of Professor Mike Tipton or of course the enigma that is Wim Hoff for more on how & why.
🧡 But the best thing I was reminded of in all of this… THE BRAIN BELIEVES WHAT YOU TELL IT
🧠If you tell yourself you can – you can. If you tell yourself you can’t, you can’t.
💚 So what narrative can you change. What negative can you change to a positive? Listen to what you tell yourself, it might just change your life!
