My Top 5 Tips For Making A Change
Making a change is hard so here are my My Top 5 Tips For Making A Change, I hope they help. Use the ‘say hello’ form at the bottom of the page to let me know or send me an email, I’d love to hear from you.
Know WHY you want to change. It has to be meaningful to YOU. Making a change is hard, without knowing really why you’re doing it, it will be even harder. Check out Simon Sinek’s Ted talk for more on WHY and why it’s key in almost everything we want to achieve.
Have a PLAN. You have to know what you’re going to do differently. Change = change. You can’t do the same things and expect a different outcome. Ask yourself what behaviours are no longer serving your goals…
Get HELP. Start with what you need the most help with. It might be nutrition, it might be training, it might be hiring a cleaner so you have more time. It might be asking your partner to do more, it might be expecting older children to help more. (Haha, I can feel some of you rolling your eyes at this and saying ‘yeah right’) – but if you’re stressed out with no time for you, it’s time to get tough.
Get STUBBORN. One of the hardest parts of making a change is other people’s reactions. They don’t want to lose that version of you and that’s normal… – but if that version of you isn’t making YOU happy, then it’s time to put YOU first. Have the hard conversations that you don’t want to drink as much or get take out all the time, that you do want to exercise more and eat well, it’s hard but if it’s what you want, then it’s worth it.
Celebrate your WINS. It’s ok to set a huge goal like running a marathon, losing 10kg or anything else that drives you… But remember, it’s going to take time and you have to live life whilst you’re working on things. So break that goal down into mini wins, celebrate them. It’s ok to enjoy working on your goals, work them into a life you can life with, not one that makes you miserable, hungry or bored.
I hope you enjoyed the tips, feel free to forward this to a friend or share on social media if you think others would enjoy or benefit from these tips too.
